Small Round Canvas Strainers
Small Round Canvas Strainers
A "strainer" frame means that it is not keyable. We can make round strainer or stretcher frames in any size you desire but our “standard” sizes offer the most economical option. They are available in 12", 18", and 24" diameters, in 3/4" or 1-1/2" depths. Larger round strainer frames are available here.
3/4″ strainers are made from a single layer of Baltic birch plywood with 1/8" fall to ensure the canvas only contacts the outer edge. (Note that 1/4″ [6mm] staples or an air nailer must be used on the birch to ensure the staples pull in tightly). 1-1/2″ strainers have 1/4" fall and an additional layer of fir plywood laminated to the back that allows for easy stapling of the canvas. (Staples longer than 1/4″ [6mm] may be used on the fir.)
The inside edge of the 1-1/2" strainer frames are beveled for mounting using a matching gravity bar supplied with each frame. 3/4" frames may be hung using any standard method.
For stretching the canvas, we recommend using unprimed cotton or linen canvas then priming after. Unprimed canvas is much more flexible and can be pulled tight around curved edges without creating unsightly pleating in the canvas.
Small Round Canvas Strainers typically ship in 5-7 business days but our turn-around times do vary depending on our workload. Please notify us if you have a specific deadline.
